A Headstart daycare and preschool facility for 120 children is being created in an L-shaped single story masonry building dating from the 1930’s.
Located in an established residential neighborhood, the preschool will have seven classrooms equipped with custom casework and children’s lavatories, a multi-purpose room with a small addition wrapped with windows, and an enclosed play yard. An entrance facing the parking area leads to a daylit lobby and reception desk. Support spaces include offices, adult restrooms, and a warming kitchen. The overall image is scaled to the residential setting, while maintaining the character and masonry details of the original commercial structure. Extensive landscaping contributes to a design intended to fit gracefully into an attractive residential neighborhood.
